Dear Alchemists,
What future awaits us? Well, I guess, nobody can really tell. But we all
know that the start we had had not been easy. We were mocked and criticized
and the organization was even predicted to dissolve soon. Yet through it
all, we held on and stood our grounds. We braved the difficulties brought
about by our choice to be different, breaking free from traditional scenery.
However, the challenges are never over for the people who never believe in
us and who never wanted us to do well constantly plague us. We have to
prevent them from uprooting us from the ground where we were set because our
defeat could mean their victory, our tears would only bring mocking smiles
on their lips but our existence, our struggle to survive would be the
greatest threat to their years of dominance.
Sometimes (actually most of the times) I tend to react violently towards
what I hear and what I see that concerns our organization. I cannot help it.
I cannot hold back myself from despising the ones who belittle us and take
us for granted but I despise more those who can do something yet refuse to
do anything to shield this league from its detractors. Somehow, I cannot
blame them because we do not have the same sentiments. Others would just let
things pass by keeping their mouth shut reasoning out that we have no right
to question their authority and we have to prove ourselves yet. Yes, we
really have to prove ourselves but would silence speak for us? On the other
hand, I know that all of us care for this league but feeling is different
from doing. Even though we say that we love this organization and that it
occupies a big and special part of our college life, but we fail or refuse
to prove how much we care - the emotion, the affection, the feelings would
go to nothing because a noble purpose needs a noble deed. We have to act.
Nevertheless, despite the pains and difficulties brought about by our
detractors, I think we owe them words of gratitude because just knowing that
they are watching our organization's activities challenges us to better and
to give our best in everything we do. Their criticisms made us struggle
harder to keep on surviving.
And for us, Alchemists, we must always bear in mind that we will go on with
what we have started not because we have a name to protect. Rather, we go on
existing because we have our established goals and ideals to live up to. We
bear the banner of valor... we wave the flag of being different that brought
turbulence in what had been a monotonous world. And we must prove to
everyone that this league is worthy of our involvement and sacrifice, that
our seed of beginning would eventually grow into a sturdy and fruitful tree
that would withstand every storm and would be a living legacy forever.
Always remember that we are not an opposition - we do not exist to contend
with UP KEM - we are an option and we have a different path...
