Meet the Old Officers
taken from PURGED! (November 1999)
For the
information of everyone, we are listing down the persons steering UP ALCHEMES
amidst the confusion of everyday existence. Here they are, the Executive
Officers of AY 1999-2000, with tidbits of information we hope will be
helpful somehow.
President: Teofilo Garcia, Jr.
Teofilo made his mark early on in his batch. If mythology is to be believed,
he used to be one of the most GC people (grade-conscious, dummy!). Perhaps
he has reason to be: he proved to be among the elite group of top-scorers
in most ChE exams (31, 32, 132, take your pick!). Presently, the responsibilities
of being head of an organization takes his mind off these things, but
you can bet that Teofilo just won't take the glory of his own acads off
his mind yet!
Ex-O for Academic Affairs: Mel Bryant Dulam
Mel belongs to the elite group of top-scorers we just mentioned. Though
seemingly aloof and quiet, Mel has actually one of the most analytical
minds you'd ever know, especially when it comes to ChE concepts. He can
surely be approached when a ChE problem does boggle your mind, and you'll
soon find yourself having the answers and a clear mind. FYI: Mel's
favorite song is Someday by Sugar Ray.
Ex-O for External Affairs: Gaudencio Tambaba, Jr.
JunJun fits well the position of Executive Officers for Externals: he's
the Chairperson of Molave Residence Hall, and Vice Governor-Externals
of Pan Xenia Fraternity. This guy is well-connected! And aside from this,
he's a basketball aficionado: a day is not complete without one game.
Ex-O for Finance: Flormirza Cabalteja
Flor is a real asset to the organization: she knows how to take care of
our money, and when it comes to gathering funds from the members, she
means BUSINESS! Which is why we know a lot of people who find ways to
hide themselves when Flor is around.
Ex-O for Internal Affairs: Olga Estil
If there's one person we should thank for the organization's membership
status, it would be Olga. Even before she assumed her present position,
Olga has been very active in spreading word about the organization and
has exerted effort to keep members informed and interested in UP ALCHEMES.
Ex-O for Logistics: Henry Bonifacio
Tall, dark and... yes. Henry is an all-around athlete, a member of that
elite club, and... when the going gets tough, Boni gets going.
Ex-O for Secretariat: Randy Canlas
Randy is, everyone can attest, fun to be with. FYI: The one thing
that we can remember about Randy right now, is that he was such a fan
of Rama at Sita: the Musical that he saw the show a lot of times, his
life perhaps revolved around the musical for a few weeks.
